Plankinton is alive in October with pheasant hunters from all across the United States,
 as well as other countries. 

Plankinton boasts:

  • Finest Quality pheasant hunting preserves

  • An abundance of area farmers who provide rooms
    in their homes and
    land for hunting
     



Twin Lakes

There are some excellent fishing spots in the immediate area: 

Twin Lakes
is open to the general public for camping, swimming, fishing, and boating.

Wilmarth Lake
is also open to the general public for
 fishing and boating.

Plankinton is just a short 40-mile drive from one of the world's best walleye fishing locations:
  the
Missouri River.

Located in the "Heart of Mother Nature's" finest area, Plankinton is a hunting and fishing paradise, with an abundance of native wildlife and bountiful cropland.

EAST RIVER DEER HUNTING


Plankinton is known for being a great hunting area for many wildlife including white-tail deer.

ANNUAL MOTORCYCLE/AUTO POKER RUN

Poker Run over--All ready for the fun and dancing!


Registration for the Annual Motor Sports Rally/Poker Run begins at noon at Plankinton School with the parade of entries down Main Street kicking off the event at 1:00 pm.  The $10 entry fee benefits Youth Enrichment Programs in the area.  Stay tuned for details!

Fish Lake Country Club is a 9-hole golf course overlooking the scenic beauty of Fish Lake

For your after-golfing enjoyment, head for refreshments and a fine meal at the Fish Lake Country Club restaurant.

9-hole public golf courses in     south central South Dakota.  Activities include open golfing, shootouts, league play, and tournaments.

4-H COUNTY FAIR

Our County Fair is held at the 4-H Fair Grounds on the east side of town.

Fair Grounds
This event is held in July of each year.  Purple ribbon winners go on to the State Fair held in Huron, SD.

The Historical Museum is located just one block from the Aurora County Court House in Plankinton. 

Buildings and artifacts from the pioneering days of Plankinton and Aurora County are on display.

PLANKINTON CITY PARKS

 


The City of Plankinton has several parks for your family enjoyment.

West-Side Park

Pool Side Park is located in the east part of town with a large play area for all ages.  It also has a sand volleyball court, tennis court, basketball court,  and picnic shelter.

Memorial Park is located one block from Main Street in Plankinton.  This park has a stage that we use for our Community Theater Productions.  Memorial Day Services are also held here each year.

West Side Park is located on the west side of town with a picnic shelter, shaded areas, and new playground equipment.  Teach kids fishing at the adjacent Jail Pond.

DART-THROWING LEAGUES


Plankinton has several dart-throwing leagues that compete in contests throughout the state.

 This is family fun entertainment.  You are welcome to join one or more of the leagues.

Join in the fun by watching your kids play in city summer baseball and softball leagues.  The City of Plankinton sponsors both boys and girls teams.
